NYFW 2025
I'm going to give blogging a try and I decided for my first post, I'm going to cover my experience doing video work for NYFW 2025.
I was exploring job boards one day in July and saw a listing that was asking for media work in September for one of the venues, REVIVE. This was more a networking and portfolio opportunity that open to basically anyone including photographers, videographers, and content managers. I decided to give it and sent in my application.
Didn't hear back for a while and eventually forgot about it, but one week before the event, I got an email saying I was chosen to help cover the event. I'm not going to lie, it being my first time doing fashion and kind of on short notice, I was nervous going in. Still though, if you want to gain more experience, you kind of need to get over your anxieties and put yourself out there.
I went out with camera and my gimbal and decided whatever happens, happens. While there, I got to meet some amazing other photographers and videographers who were a lot more involved in the fashion scene than I was, they gave me some good tips about what to focus on. I'm not going to lie, I was still nervous and if I'm being honest, there were some moments and shots that I could've done better. But what I always need to remember is that you're not going to hit it out of the park every time. You keep trying, you reflect what works and what doesn't work, and you grow. That's been my philosophy throughout my entire creative and professional career and I know that I'll be even better next time.
